On the morning of 2nd June, a team of HFN and member from Canadian Baglung Help Society left for Nuwakot to support communities in rebuilding the completely collapsed school building. The team reached at Duipeepal -7, Village Development Committee at about 12 pm, which lies about 66 Km Northwest to Kathmandu.
When we reached Gaulingeshowr Mahadev School, we saw the three blocks of buildings were completely collapsed and students were crammed in a large temporary shelter which was installed on the ground outside the collapsed building. The school principal Mr Sugaram Tamang explained us in detailed about the loss of the school property.
‘All our building is collapsed but the officer from the district education office has asked us to open it despite knowing that we have no place to accommodate students’ he said us in the middle of the conversation.
Mr Tamang, along with school teachers, members of the school management committee and parents were assembled inside one of the classrooms which has red sticker in it, indicating the classrooms were unsafe. ‘Out of the 350 students, yesterday only 10 % attended the school but today the numer of the students is about 25% only’. Mr Tamang further explained us.
