TRIP OVERVIEW

Gosaikunda Lake is a spellbinding lake that holds immense significance in Hindu mythology and at the same time a magnificent trek to embark on. The alpine freshwater oligotrophic lake is the main source of the Trishuli River and is one of the main features of  Langtang National Park which is elevated at 4,380 (14,370ft) meters above sea level in the Rasuwa District of Nepal.

This lake trek is appropriate for those who are time-bound and desire to experience more in a short span of time. Lake remains frozen for six months from October to June. This trek starts off from a small town Dhunche, Rasuwa. The most amusing things about this lake trip are, of course, the highlighted scared lake, however, the one major distinctiveness found in this region is the traditional attire that people still wear and a traditional ‘Khukuri’ that everyone carries. The majority of people belong to the Tamang community and Mani stones, Gompa is common. In Chandanbari, you can visit the oldest gompa and cheese factory. The path really asks for your strength while reaching Lauribinayak. This specific hilltop provides a jaw-dropping view of Langtang Range and Ganesh Himal. The path consists of forest walkthrough, Rhododendron, junipers, oak, and alpine. Later, after crossing the tree zone, the sight of the surrounding hills and mountains will astonishing and the thirst and hunger you are seeking will be consumed by the sights you will witness. The path mostly consists of ascends and a few minutes plain walks in between. It is believed that the lake was created by Lord Shiva when he thrust his Trishuli (holy Trident) into the hills to release the water in order to feel his throat after swallowing the poison.

The trek to Gosaikunda can be done from various points such as Dhunche, SyabruBesi in the Langtang Himal, or from Sundarijal in the Kathmandu Valley. This amazing lake trek will involve 5 days. Are you ready to explore the pristine nature and its offering with Hike for Nepal Holidays?
